Biography
Lucy Osgood is a part of US Black heritage.
Lucy was a slave owned by James Osgood, a tavern keeper in Concord, New Hampshire.
Her birth date and location are unknown. It is not known if James Osgood purchased Lucy when he lived in Massachusetts or not until he moved to Concord, New Hampshire.
In James Osgood's will of Jan 24, 1757 [1] he leaves to his wife Hannah
.... also my Negro woman Servant named Lucy, also the two youngest children she now has....."
The wording of " two youngest children she now has" may imply she had other children who were sold and no longer living with her.
James Osgood died soon after writing his will. The will was proven on May 25, 1757. Mrs. Osgood probably took ownership of Lucy and the children in May 1757.
