Biography

William Palmer was born in Ohio County, Indiana on 15 Aug 1832 to Henry Palmer and Lydia Lockwood.[1][2][3] On 1 Jul 1863 he enlisted in the Civil War in Randolph County, IN.[4] In 1864, William married Susanna M. Arford[5]

William and Susanna had nine children:[5][6][7]

  6. Phoebe Alois Palmer (1877-1948);[12] m. 1901, Charles Rice[13]
  7. Edward Everett Palmer (1885-1964);[14] m. c.1909, Florence Howell[15]
  8. Joseph Elbert Palmer (1885-1962);[16] m. c.1908, Hulda Draeger
  9. Ethel R. Palmer (1887-1967)

In 1920, 30-year-old Ethel was still living as home, caring for her elderly parents.[17] William died in Rising Sun, where he lived his entire life, on 14 Oct 1921; he was 89 years old.[1][18] According to FAG, his wife, Susanna Arford, died in 1926.[1][19]
