Biography

Jack Peard was born in England.

John Henry "Jack" Peard was born on 10 September 1876^[1]. He was the son of James Henry K Peard and Bridget Harris^[2].

In the UK Census of 1881 John H Peard (aged 4) was recorded living with his father James H. Peard (33 and an Annuitant), his mother Elizabeth B S Peard (31), his sister Rebecca L Peard (2) and five servants at Sanfield, Braunton, Devon^[3].

His father James passed away on 16 July 1885 at the age of 38.

He was living in Chard, Devon in 1901, aged 24 and employed as an Estate Agent^[4].

He moved to Alberta, Canada in 1904^[5] and became a farmer and applied for a Homestead Grant on 20 June 1905^[6].

He married Eleanor May Casey on August 4th, 1909 in Macleod, Alberta and they had a son, Henry Antony Peard born in 1910 in Alberta.

In 1911 he was living with his wife Eleanor and their son Henry at Macleod, Willow Creek No. 26, Alberta, Canada^[7].

He died in British Columbia, Canada on 17 January 1945, the same day as his wife. Jack was cremated, with his ashes being interred at Royal Oak Burial Park Cemetery, Victoria, Capital Regional District, British Columbia, Canada^[8]. PLOT: Garden of Remembrance D-107
