Biography

James D. Peters, 86, of Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, formerly of South Locust Street, died on Thursday, October 18, 2007^[1] at Masonic Village. Born in Elizabethtown, he was the son of the lateClayton Peters and Mabel Blecher.^[2] He was the husband of Marcella C. Fink Peters. They were married for 64 years in January 2007.

Mr. Peters was a member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church, Elizabethtown.

He was retired from the former Olmsted Air Force Base in Middletown. After his retirement, Mr. Peters was employed by The PA State Department of Environmental Resources as transportation supervisor and retired from there in 1983.

A US army veteran of WWII^[3], he was a member of Conewago Post #329, American Legion and Fred Barley Post #5667, VFW, both in Elizabethtown. A member of Abraham C. Treichler Lodge #682, F&AM, Elizabethtown and Zembo Temple, Mr. Peters was a member and served as a Marshall of Harrisburg Consistory. He was very active in Demolay and was instrumental in organizing the Elizabethtown Biddy Basketball program. Mr. Peters also served as the first Pack Master for Cub Scout Pack #51.

Surviving in addition to his wife Marcella are two sons, Jeffrey W., husband of Lynn Peters, Lancaster and Randy T. Peters, Elizabethtown; a daughter, Maxine J., wife of Larry W. Etter, Middletown; a daughter-in-law, Carole B. Thomas; four grandchildren, Katie Jenkins, Kelly Ginder, Matthew Peters and Dan Etter; two brothers, Cyrus R. and E. Ray Peters.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at the John S. Sell Memorial Chapel, Masonic Village, Elizabethtown at 11:00 AM. Friends may call at the chapel from 10:00 until the time of service. A Masonic Service will be conducted by Abraham C. Treichler Lodge #682 prior to the 11:00 service. Interment with Military Honors will take place in Mount Tunnel Cemetery, Elizabethtown.^[4]

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Tree of Life, Masonic Village, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022.
