Biography

Alpheus W. Pettengill (also spelled Pettingill) was born on August 26, 1850, in Milan, New Hampshire, the son of Larkin Pettengill and Sylbia Vienna Bickford.^[1][2]

On April 12, 1875, in Milan, New Hampshire, he married Viola Wheeler^[3] (intentions April 10, 1875^[4]). No children were listed as living with the couple in the 1880 U. S. census.^[5]

Alpheus died on December 20, 1892, in Berlin, New Hampshire.^[6] A machinist by occupation, his cause of death was an "accident in [the] mill".^[6] He is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, in Milan, New Hampshire, his name spelled as Pettingill on his gravestone.^[7]
