She was from "Phelps Falls" on the James, upstream from New Canton across from Bremo (Cleveland Island, or "Phelps Island" is upstream from the mouth of the Slate River). They settled at an early date on Bent Creek, Buckingham County (now Appomattox). Their son was Jacob Smith of Buckingham County".[1]
She was probably living with her daughter, Matilda Patteson's family before and when she passed away. There were two women above the age of 45 living there in 1820.[2]
