Alexander's present in the Buckingham County Land Tax List for 1782, charged for 500 acres. His presumed son Isaac owned 150 acres (the next few years show transfers, possibly incomplete lists). By 1787, George and Shadrack Smith are noted as sons of Alexander, each charged with 250 acres.[1]
He also received a land grant:
1 Feb 1780, to Alexander Smith, 187 acres in Buckingham on the branches of the south side Wreck Island Creek.[2]
George L and Shadrach moved from Buckingham County, VA to Tennessee (Shadrach moved in 1811).
Rev Poindexter Patterson Smith (b 8/14/1793 in Buckingham Co. VA), third son of George Lumpkin and Elizabeth Harris Smith. Look for Memoir of Elder P. P. Smith by Elder A. B. Smith, 1847 (H.K. Ellyson, Printer of Richmond) How is this line connected to Byrd Smith?

Who is Shadrack Smith that married Mary Byrd? A Bible reference suggests that this Shadrack is the father of this Alexander. From Tennessee Smithology
His father John's will names wife Jane, sons Abraham, Humphrey, Childaws [sic], Elacksander, Joseph, John and James; and daughter Mary Blankinship. Will was proved 28 Feb 1756 in Cumberland County, Virginia.
