Biography

Emily (Phillips) Sexton lived in Appalachia, in Tennessee.

Emily was born on January 11, 1874 at Huntsville in Scott County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Ephraim Phillips and Winnie Elizabeth ( West ) Phillips . She married John Freeman Sexton on September 22, 1895 in Scott County. Emily passed away from cardiac failure, hypertension on May 27, 1954 at Oneida in Scott County.

Emily Sexton, Born January 11, 1864, deceased this life, May 27, 1954, at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 16 days. She joined the Paint Rock Baptist Church in September 1885. She lived a faithful Christian life until death. She was a guiding light to all who knew her. She leaves to mourn her absence six children. Four sons and two daughters, Eamer, Arbin, Ezra and Everett Sexton, Mrs. Orpha Sexton and Mrs. Oma Sexton. She leaves a host of friends and other relatives.
