Biography

Shadrach Pierson, son of Henry Pierson, was born about 1748 in Southampton Township where his father owned land. His sister, Abigail was born in about 1646 and his brother, James, in 1750. ^[1]

Shadrach moved to New Jersey in 1770 and married Rebecca Peirson, his second cousin, before 1774. ^[2] Both Shadrach and Rebecca were great grandchildren of Col Henry Peirson. Rebecca was the daughter of Sylvanus and Rebecca (Lupton) Peirson of Bridgehampton, Suffolk, New York Colony. ^[3] They had six children: Henry Pierson, Phoebe Richter (born Pierson), Moses Pierson, James Pierson, Joseph Pierson, Rufus Pierson

In about 1776, during the Revolutionary War, Shadrach Pierson served as a Private in the Morris, New Jersey Militia (S-720). ^[4] According to Military Records, Shadrach lived in Morris Township, Morris, New Jersey. By 1779 he had moved to Mendham Township, Morris, NJ. ^[5] At the First Presbyterian Congregation Church of Mendham Shadrach was chosen, 8 March, 1779, as one of a committee of four to be Collectors of the minister's sallary for the ensueing year and for what is payt. On April 4, 1781, Shadrach was still living in Mendham.

In 1785 Shadrach moved with his family to New York State. In the 1790 Census Shadrach, Rebecca, four sons and two daughters were located at Schoharie Town, Albany, NY. Neither Shadrach nor Rebecca could be found in the US 1800 Census.

Shadrach is thought to have died before 1810.
