Luke Pineo was born in 1782 at Cornwallis Township, Kings County, Nova Scotia. He was the son of John Pineo and Hannah Loomer.[1][2] Luke married Elizabeth, daughter of John H. Miller in 1806.[3]

Two men by the name of Luke Pineo are recorded with their families on the same page of the Nova Scotia Census, 1861 for Canning, Kings, Nova Scotia.[9] Luke Pineo (88) and his wife Elizabeth (84) are shown on the Canada Census, 1871 for Canning, Kings, Nova Scotia.[10]
Luke Pineo, married, farmer, died in 1873, aged 92, at Canning, Kings, Nova Scotia; death reported by J. Lockhart.[11]
Research Notes
Some family histories record Harriet as the daughter of Luke’s brother, John “Jack” Pineo and his wife, Sarah Ells, and their daughter, Elizabeth, as Luke’s daughter. Oral history records Elizabeth as the daughter of John “Jack” Pineo and Sarah Ells.[12][13]
