Biography

birth date and death dates and locations, spouse, children, and, "he was a very successful trader. In June, 1799, he moved from Nantucket, Mass., and lived a while in Londonderry, N. H.; in April, 1801, he moved to Cape Porpoise, Me., erect- ing the house, a picture of wliich is given in the opening of this book; a man whose excellent qualities have been well illustrated in his descendants; m., Dec. 18, 1796, Mercy Cobb of Kingston, Mass., who d. Jan. 6, 1835. One writes of this branch of the family: "I think these peo- ple were members of the Friends' Church when they moved to Cape Porpoise, Me. There being no church of that faith near, the descendants have attended other churches. Emily Grant, wife of Capt. Silas Pinkham, was a devoted member of the Baptist Church and always took her children there to services, though they walked two and a half miles. Seth Henry Pinkham and his first wife were also members of that Baptist Church. The later members of the family attended the Methodist Church at Cape Porpoise, Me." in Sinnett " ^[1]
