Marthe Pointel migrated from France to New France.

Fille de Claude Pointel et de Marguerite Chevalier de la paroisse St-Symphorien, de la ville et évêché de Tours en Touraine, (Indre et Loire; Centre) née vers 1638[1] (28 ans en 1666, 29 en 1667).
Elle arrive à Québec le 18 juin 1665 à bord du vaisseau Le Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Dieppe[2] en tant que Fille du roy, ne sachant pas signer.[1]

Le 9 Novembre 1665 à Château Richer, Abel Benoist, de la paroisse de St-Hermand, évêché de Luçon, épousa Marthe Pointel, de la paroisse de St-Symphorin, évêché de Tours, en présence de Claude Auber, notaire royal, et de Pierre Gasgnon, le prêtre officiant étant Thomas Morel[4]
Ils sont établis sur la côte de Beaupré à l'origine, puis iront s'installer sur l'île d'Orléans, côté nord d'après les sépultures de 1674.

Décès
Marthe Pointel meurt en donnant naissance à son dernier enfant, Noël, le 10 septembre 1674, et est inhumée le 12 à Ste-Famille. L'acte lui donne environ 33 ans, épouse d'Abel Benoist, ils sont dits résidents de l'Île d'Orléans du côté du nord.[7] (Ste-Famille se trouve aussi du côté du nord de l'île)
Abel Benoist est inhumé le 4 décembre 1687 à Ste-Famille IO, l'acte lui donnant 63 ans.[8]

Daughter of Claude Pointel and Marguerite Chevalier, of the St-Symphorien parish in the city of Tours, in Touraine, (Inde-et-Loire), born around 1638,[1] (28 in 1666, 29 in 1667).
She arrived in Québec city on 18 June 1665 on the ship Le Saint-Jean-Baptiste from Dieppe[2], as a Fille du roy, not knowing how to sign.[1]

Abel Benoit and Marthe Pointel entered into a marriage contract on 18 October 1665 before notary Claude Auber[3]
On 9 November 1665 in Château Richer, Abel Benoist, of the parish of St-Hermand, Luçon diocese, married Marthe Pointel, of the parish of St-Symphorin, Tours diocese, in the presence of Claude Auber, royal notary, and of Pierre Gasgnon, officiating priest being Thomas Morel[4]
They were first established on the Beaupré coast, and will later move to île d'Orléans, on the north side according to 1674 funeral records.
5 known children, only one of whom is known to marry (listed above)[5]
Marthe Pointel was godmother of Marthe Chanberlans, daughter of Simon and of Marie Boileau, on 18 November 1670 in Ste-Famille, IO.[5]

Death
Marthe Pointel died giving birth to her last child, Noël, on 10 September 1674, and was buried on the 12th in Ste-Famille. The record gave her around 33 years of age, wife of Abel Benoist, they are said to be residents of Île d'Orléans on the north side.[7] (Ste-Famille is also on the north side of the island)
Abel Benoist was buried on 4 December 1687 in Ste-Famille IO, the record giving him 63 years of age.[8]
