Nicolas Prevost was born on 3 Dec 1737 in Natchitoches Post, Louisiana, Nouvelle-France, son of Nicolas (Prevost) Prevôt dit Colet and Yves Dubos.^[1]

A few years after his birth, another son was born to these parents after they relocated to Pointe Coupee, who was also called Nicolas. It can be assumed that this Nicolas born in 1737 died young as did his brother born in 1740.^[2]
