Lorenzo was born in 1846 in Birmingham England, the son of Edward And Matilda Price.

His father, Edward Price was born 29 September 1811 in Tettenhall, England. Edward and his wife Matilda had at least 15 children, at least six of whom died young in England, including a son who died, aged 1, on 11 December 1857, and a daughter, aged 3, who died the next day. Edward immigrated to America with his wife and six of their children on the ship The William Topscott. Edward died, aged 63, on 20 August 1875 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and is buried in Salt Lake City Cemetery, SLC, Utah. ^{[1] [2][3]}

The Price family traveled overland to Utah in 1862 with the Horton D. Height Company, Mormon Migration.
