Rev. Benjamin F. Proctor was born c. 1760 in Rowan County, North Carolina, British Colonial America to Capt. Nicholas Proctor Jr. (c. 1724-1793) and Nancy Smith (bef. 1733-1809), known as Nannie.

  2. Elizabeth Proctor was born c. 1788 in Madison County, Kentucky, United States. She married David Stockstill (c. 1790-c. 1827) c. 1808 in Madison County, Kentucky. Elizabeth died on 13 May 1859 in Benton County, Missouri, United States.
  3. Joseph Proctor was born in 1793 in Kentucky, United States.
  4. Nancy Jane Proctor was born on 26 April 1794 in Madison County, Kentucky, United States. She married Simpkin Harryman. Nancy died on 17 August 1874.
  5. John Proctor was born on 26 April 1797 in Madison County, Kentucky, United States. He married Lydia Westbrook (c. 1802-c. 1850). John died before 1860.

Military Service

He served in the Revolutionary War even though he could have been exempt from service due to injuries in both arms that he had received when he was young. He volunteered when he was 18 at Fort Boonesborough. George Rodgers Clark had asked that two men from each station (Stations were small farms organized around the forts.) act as scouts and spies in the efforts against the Indians. Benjamin accepted this job for the duration of the Revolutionary War and excelled at it.

Pension

There is a War of 1812 Pension Application for him, having served with the United States Navy. In 1833 Benjamin applied for a pension for his War service. He subsequently received $80. every year until his death.
