Robert Purseglove, prior of Gisburne, Yorkshire, is said to be the brother of Alice, who became the second wife of Edward Eyre, esq. of Holme (b. c. 1487 - d. 03 Jul 1558).
A Robert Purseglove (d. 02 May 1579; will 1579), sometime Bishop of Hull, was the last prior of Guisborough priory c. 1540. He resigned during the reign of Eliz. I.[1] ...
"At the Dissolution there were twenty-five inmates of the house who received various pensions, which were to begin on 25 March 1540. When an inquiry was made in 1552 Robert Pursglove, the late prior, appeared, and complained that he was in arrear a whole year."[2]
