Biography

Marie Magdeleine Quimine was born about 1718. She was the daughter of Jacques Quimine and Marie-Josephe Chiasson. She was baptized 25 Oct 1718 at Beaubassin. There was no birth date recorded, so providing baptism date here. Her godparents were Louis Hugon and Marie Blanchard.[1]

At age 23, she married Jacques Bertaud dit Montory, age 24, son of the late Pierre Montory and Marie Martin of Isle St Jean. Witnesses: Jacques Kimmin, father of the bride, Jacques Arssenaud, godfather of the groom, Abraham Arssenaud, Henry Lhostillier and many others.[2]

In the 1752 La Roque census at Saint-Pierre-du-Nord, Jacques, a fisherman and ploughman, and Marie-Madeleine were counted with 4 children. The land upon which they were settled was held in half shares with his step-father Mathieu Glain. [3]

In 1758, during the Great Upheaval, the family was deported to France. They disembarked at Saint-Malo on 9 March 1759 with 6 children including a newborn who died 2 months later, as well as their 3-year-old son Jacques Aubin. [4]

Her "two" husbands are the same man: Jacques Bertaud dit Montaury. See http://mwlandry.ca/genealog/getperson.php?personID=I4502&tree=03. I willl try to get back to this to repair it - but if I don't, I hope someone else will take care of it.

I created a duplicate by mistake because of the name differences. A merge is pending so will be corrected soon.
