Leon Race, 88, of Kunkle, died Monday at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas. He was born.
January 4, 1911, in Kunkle, son of the late James and Addie Bonner Race, and attended Dallas.
schools.
Mr. Race operated his own farm in Kunkle until 1976; he also ran a butcher shop for 25 years. He.
was a member of the Kunkle United Methodist Church. First wife, Leitha; daughter, Evelyn; sister, Hulda; brothers, John, Andrew and Mark; step-daughter, Bonnie Houck preceded him in death.
He and his wife, the former Jean Miller, would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary December 30.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Audrey Miner, Choconut; Beverly Shannon, Dallas; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; step-daughter, Harriet Rought, Falls; one niece and nephew.
Funeral will be Thursday at 11 from Nulton Funeral Home, State Route 309, Beaumont, with Reverend James Howell, pastor of the Centermoreland Baptist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Fitch Cemetery, Centermoreland. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8. 1
