Hi Barbara,

Me again! We have been trying to re-ignite some interest in our Fitz Randolph heritage both through a so-called 'one-name study' here on wikitree: see https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Fitz_Randolph_Name_Study, and through establishing a Fitz Randolph ydna project at FTDNA (we had previously been a subgroup in the more general Randolph project): see https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/fitzrandolph/about. We have very few Fitz Randolph men tested, so only have limited ability as of now to identify where people who aren't sure of their paper trail back to Edward Fitz Randolph might fit. If we can more Fitz Randolph men tested, we should be able to get a good sense which ydna mutations occurred in which lines and when from Edward to today. Would you have any male Randolph relatives we might be able to try to recruit? Thanks! Tom

Hi there! Nice to meet you. I got further on Ancestry than I did here so I uploaded the Ancestry ged file today and there are like 1430 suggested matches. Good grief. Thinking I should I just confirm all and then clean up errors. Right? I have Daniel Fitz in the ged file. I don't know how to set up the GEDmatch. I believe I have the Fitz Randolph book but do not have the other references. I'll go look at your lineage!
Hi Barbara,

Great to see another Fitz Randolph on board! Welcome! It looks like we just have to add Peter Jacob's father Daniel Fitz Randolph, then you can connect to his father Peter's profile and the existing Fitz Randolph tree within wikitree. It doesn't look like we match on AncestryDNA unfortunately, but maybe we can try in GEDmatch at some point. Do you have the Christian & Fitz Randolph and Oris Fitz Randolph genealogies to cite as references for Peter Jacob and Daniel? Tom

Descendant of Edward Fitz Randolph. I can probably help with that lineage. I agree with your mission and will abide by your nine simple rules.
