Lawrence Evelyn Rashleigh was born on the 19th April 1883 in Rotherhithe, Surrey (London) [1]. He was the son of Arthur Rashleigh and Francis Acworth. Lawrence grew up with his parents in West Ham, Essex, in what is now East London [2][3]. Like his father an brother he became a wood turner.
Lawrence married Matilda Strode on the 12th June 1905 in St Saviour, Forest Gate, Essex, England. [4]. He was 22 years 1 month old. They set up home and started their family in East Ham, Essex (London) [5].
In 1917 Lawrence served in the Royal Engineers during World War I. Service number 234968, No 6th Port Construction Company. He served until 1919, ending his service at the Railway Troop Depot [6].
In July 1920 Lawrence emigrated to Canada departing from Liverpool aboard the Metagama and arriving in Quebec on the 5th July. He travelled with his wife and two daughters [7][8]. His aim was to Betterment of family. His initial residence was with his sister in Brantford, Ontario.
Lawrence and Matilda do not appear to be listed in the Canada Census' of 1921, 1931 or 1941.
Lawrence Evelyn Rashleigh died on the 3rd September 1947 in Brantford, Ontario, Canada [9]. He was 64 years 4 months old.
