Biography

Georgia was born in 1834 to John Ray of Ireland and Bethenia Gilliam of Tennessee.^[1] She married Dr. Abner Wellborn, son of Abner Wellborn and Patsy Render, in the spring of 1852.^[2] They had seven, possibly eight, known children:^{[3] [4] [5]}

• 1853-1854: Aurelius Wilkes, died in infancy (unsourced on FamilySearch)^[6]
• 1855-1880: Lucette Eulalia, never married^[7]
• 1858->1880: Coreon/Carolina/Connie/Corrinne? probably never married
• 1860-1941: Susan Beatrice, m. John Blackmar, 1884
• 1861-1861: John Ray, died in infancy^[8]
• 1864-1930: Abner Ray, never married
• 1867-1867: unnamed daughter, died in infancy
• 1868-1869: Bythinia, died in infancy

Only three of their children survived childhood: Corrinne, Susan, and Abner Ray. Of these three, only Susan is known to have married and had children.

Georgia passed away in 1887.^[9] Abner lived another eighteen years, staying in lodging houses in Atlanta and continuing his work as a physician.^[10] He passed away in 1905.^[11] They are buried together with most of their children in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, Georgia.^{[12] [13]}
