Biography

William RETTIE was born in Abt 1847 in Old Deer, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.^[1][2][3][4] He was the son of Charles RETTIE and Barbara SIMPSON.^[1]

In 1861, he worked as a Farm Servant in the household of John GALL at Upper Hythie in Old Deer, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.^[5] His age was given as 14 years old.^[5]

In 1871, he worked as a Farm Servant in the household of the Reverend John Forbes Mitchell COCK at the manse in the parish of Rathen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.^[6] His age was given as 25 years old.^[6] Also present in the household was Elizabeth WATSON, Housemaid, age 21.^[6]
