John was born in 1836. He was the son of Ebenezer Richmond and Louisa Gott. He grew up in Independence, New York. The 1860 Census indicates that he and Julia were married "within the year"[1]
They had 1 daughter, Ida A., in January of 1861.
“Murray” seems to have been drafted in July of 1863. He was killed in July of 1864 in the fight for Petersburg. He is buried in Poplar Grove National Cemetery, Petersburg, Virginia.[2]
