William P. Rickman was born about 1849 in Warren County[1], Tennessee. He was the child of Telitha and the brother of Civil War veteran James Monroe Rickman of the famous 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry. He was also a Civil War veteran, serving with the 5th United States Colored Troops (USCT.)
During the Civil War, he enlisted as a substitute for William C. Elston from Urbana, Ohio in 1864. He served from 22 August 1864 until 25 August 1865 with Company F of the 5th United States Colored Troops (USCT.)
NOTE: There is also a Sergeant William H. Rickman in Co. E of the 5th USCT.
He passed away in 1870 and is buried at Clemens Cemetery in Long, Darke County, Ohio.
Headstone was not present in 2019 but local researcher and Daughters of the American Revolution member Caroline Petitjean is working on getting a Civil War headstone installed for him. Raymoure-1 16:34, 9 May 2019 (UTC)
