James Riedy was born in 1840 in County Clare, Ireland, the son of John Riedy (1787–1880) and Honora Cuddihy (1800–1870). James Reidy [sic] was baptized at Kildysart Parish 3 Jul 1840, Killaloe Diocese, County Clare, parents James Reidy and Norry Cuddihy[1] James' older sister, Bridget, and his older brother, John, were also baptized in Kildysart. Kildysart, officially Killadysert, is a village in County Clare, Ireland and a civil and Roman Catholic parish by the same name that surrounds the village.
James immigrated to the USA arriving New York City in Sep 1860 and was naturalized 15 Oct 1877.[2]
James married Mary Ann Gaynor (1853–1926) on 2 Dec 1871 in Kewaunee County, Wisconsin. Their children were:
Elizabeth A. "Lizzie" (Riedy) Drossart (1886–1971)
James Edward Riedy (1889–1979)
Edmond Riedy (1891–1981)
In the 1875 Wisconsins James Riedy is listed below his father John Riedy, and James' household has 2 males and 2 females, so possibly one of James' brothers is living with him or we are missing a son of James.
James passed away at age 62 in 1902, a farmer in Casco, Kewaunee County, Wisconsin, and was buried in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Slovan (part of southeast Casco).[4][5]
