Biography

The daughter of Johann Ritter Sr and Magdalena (Brause) Ritter, Sophia was born in Salisbury Township in 1833.[citation needed] Her family migrated to West Beaver Township, then in Union County, where she lived with her parents in 1850.[1] She married Elias Dunn (1835-1906), the son of Alexander and Eva Dunn; their children included:

  1. Henry Dunn (1860-1862)
  2. George Albert Dunn (1862-1933)
  3. William Henry Dunn (1865-1923)
  4. Sarah Elizabeth (Dunn) Krepp (1866-1937)
  5. Mary Jane Dunn (1871-1943)

They made their home in West Beaver Township; in 1860, her unmarried sister, Sarah Ann Ritter, lived with them.[2] Her sister lived with their sister, Susannah Baker, in 1870; Sophia and Elias lived with their children in West Beaver Township that year.[3] By 1880, her sister, Sarah, was back in her household.[4] Sophia Dunn passed away at the age of 62 and is buried in the family plot at Black Oak Ridge Cemetery in McClure, Pennsylvania.[5]
