W.W. Bill Roberts Jr. went to be with his Lord Nov. 12, 2006. Bill Roberts was born Aug. 21, 1927, to W.W. �Wythe� Roberts Sr. and Lois Spann Roberts in the Dicey Community. Mr. Roberts graduated from Weatherford High School, attended Weatherford College and Texas Tech University before joining the Merchant Marines. Once he was old enough, he joined the United States Navy, where he served aboard the U.S.S. Clamagore, a diesel submarine.

In 1951, he married the love of his life, Mary Drake, and operated a dairy near Lake Weatherford for many years. In 1967, he changed careers and began working in the aircraft industry for Southern Airways in Mineral Wells. In 1968, he moved to Amarillo, Texas, to work for Bell Helicopter Textron, later moving to Tehran, Iran, with Bell. Upon his return from Iran, he finished his aircraft career with General Dynamics in Fort Worth from which he retired in 1992.

Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his parents; his eldest son, Tuffy Lee

Roberts; and his eldest grandson, Terry Lee Roberts.

Mr. Roberts is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 55 years, Mary of

the home; his daughter, Naomi Roberts Woodard and her husband, Mark, of

Amarillo; his son, William Wythe �Bill� Roberts III of Galveston; his sister

Anne Blackmon of Fort Worth; his grandchildren, Tracy Garvin and her

husband, Troy, Danica Woodard, Nathan Woodard and his wife, Miranda, W.W.

�Billy� Roberts IV, Randy Roberts, Paul Roberts and Ella Kathryn; his

great-grandchildren, Ashleigh and Bayleigh Garvin and Benjamin Lee Jacobsen.

He is also survived by Janice Roberts Gilliland and her husband, Al, Paula

Roberts, many nieces, nephews, friends and his faithful companion, Suzy.

Graveside services will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford,Texas, at

11 a.m. today at East Greenwood Cemetery with Murphy Phillips, of the South

Main Church of Christ officiating.

His rugged smile,

Invites you to sit a while.

This handsome man,Who many times was kissed with a tan.

With a mind so sharp,

And he always had heart.

He never was mean,

And his wits were keen.

We will all miss him,

The lips that kissed him.

The arms that held him,

The hearts that loved him.

Let his hope be ours,

Higher than the stars.

Of life eternal,

It began with faith small as a kernel.

We look to see him,

This wonderful man we called father,

husband and friend.
