Biography

Elijah Rogers was born 16 Sep 1786 in Lyme, New London, Connecticut. [1]

Elijah Rogers, son of Matthew Rogers & Esther (Ely) Rogers, (the widow Ransom, Matthew's second wife) was born 16 Sep 1786. He married Hannah Beckwith 22 Oct 1807. They had a son William Ely Rogers born 9 Apr 1809. [2]

Elijah Rogers was born 16 Sep 1786 in Lyme, New London County, Connecticut, and died 13 Sep 1830 (aged 43) in Genesee County, New York. He was buried in the East Bethany Cemetery in East Bethany, Genesee County.

His stone seems to clearly read "Aged 51 years" which would mean he was born in 1779 if he died in 1830 or he died in 1837 if he was born in 1786. His dob seems well documented and one presumes there is not a seven year error in the death date on his grave stone, he may have misstated his age to be seen as older than his wife perhaps?

FindaGrave lists his father: Mathew Rogers 1746–1818 one sibling: Elisha Rogers 1788–1876 his wife: Hannah Marie Beckwith Rogers 1781–1872 (m. 1807) and three children:

William Ely Rogers 1809–1899
Josiah Beckwith Rogers 1813 – unknown
Matthew Rogers 1818–1911[3]
