Biography
William was born in 1811. He is the son of Ralph Rogers and Judith Goode. He passed away in 1892.
Los Angeles Times, Thursday, June 16, 1892, p. 8:
"The Rogers Inquest. Yesterday afternoon Coroner Weldon held an inquest on the body of William Rogers, the old man who was run into by a moving train near the San Fernando street depot some days ago, and who died at his home in East Los Angeles from the shock Tuesday evening. The old man received a few bruises and it was not believed that he was seriously injured. The testimony went to show that the old man, who is quite deaf, was warned to leave the track, and he did so, but just as the train was backing up he stepped back to the track and got so close that the car struck him and knocked him down. The jury blamed the trainmen for not stopping the train."[1]
