Clark was born about 1802 in Chelmsford Essex, the son of Clark Rook (~1782 - 1814) and Margaret (Banister) Rook (~1785 - 1864), and he was christened on the 29th January 1804 at St Mary's Church, Chelmsford, Essex.[1][2]
Clark married Mary Ann (Phipps) Rook (~1805 - 1846) on 8th August 1824 at Faversham Kent.[3]
Clark's daughter Rebecca's christening record in 1825 showed him to be a hatter.[4]
Clark was in a record on 20 January 1841 in Faversham Union, Kent, England.[5]
Clark's daughter Emma married Joseph Thomas Pickup on 13th November 1848 in Charlton, Kent and Clark was shown as a plasterer. It seems he was also one of the witnesses.[6][7]
1851 Census on the 30th March 1851 Clark was 47 years old, a widower, and cement chimney pot maker living in Chapel Place, Greenwich, Kent with his children Charles, Louisa and daughter Eliza.[8]
On the 5th April 1852 Clark's daughter Margaret married Thomas in Sittingbourne, Kent and he was shown as a cement maker on his daughter's marriage certificate.[9][10]
On 30 October 1854 Clark Rook, aged 52, was admitted into the Greenwich workhouse. [11]. He was discharged from the workhouse on 3rd November 1854 with his daughters Louisa Rook (aged 10) and Eliza Rook (aged 8). He was described as a destitute Widow, the responsibility of the parish of Greenwich [12]
1871 Census on the 2nd April 1871 Clark living in Sittingbourne, Kent with his daughter Louisa and her husband Aaron Stevens, and their children Louisa and Thomas.[13]
Clark died on the 9th August 1871 and his death was registered in Faversham, Kent in 1871. Clark shown as Charles is mentioned in an old Log Book, written by Edward James Pickup in possession of Trevor Pickup.[14][15][16]
Clark was buried on the 11 August 1871 at St Mary of Charity church, Faversham, Kent [17]
