Biography

Geertje was born in 1740. She is the daughter of Jacobus Rosenkrans and Sarah Decker. [1]

Geertje (translated as Kerche) is named in her father's will: "James Rosekrons" husbandman of Wantage Township, Sussex County wrote his will 15 Oct 1768 naming wife Katharine, son Daniel, and daughters Lenah, Blandenah, and Kerche, and other children John, Hezekiah, Aulidaw (daughter), and Solomon, the last one being under age. Inventory was conducted 2 Jan 1769, indicating he was deceased by this date.[2]

Research Notes

Married to Petrus Etmondus Oosterhout, record found in Hoes, p. 616, #1359. Per her birth record, LNAB should be Rosekrans.

This profile is a collaborative work-in-progress. Can you contribute information or sources?

Geertje was born about 1750.

Research Notes

Interestingly, the marriage record lists Petrus as never having been married, but nothing is said about Geertje, not widow, not j. d. It makes me wonder if divorce were a possibility then, and how it would be described. The Calvinist faith was very strict.
