Communication Preferences:
I am interested in communicating with
cousins and anyone else with an interest in genealogy.
My family tree is on another website.
My brother's Y-DNA is part of the FTDNA Capps Project: https://www.familytreedna.com/public/capps?iframe=ycolorized
I've filled out my DNA profiles and uploaded my GEDcom. However, I don't think I'm associated with who I am in the tree. How do I do that?
Also, I wanted to fill out a Y-chromosome DNA profile for my brother and connect it to him in the tree. When I tried to create the profile, I got an error that only males can have Y-DNA, but I'm not sure how to manage all of this in my account.
Your DNA looks as if it is correctly assigned.
As regards your brother's YTDNA, your brother has to have his own account and agree to the Privacy Policy, although you can manage the account for him. This is explained in this section of the DNA FAQs here.
You will need to ensure that the profile for your brother shows as male for the Y-DNA to work as it should. He/You need to edit the profile to do that.
Also, your profile is not currently showing as female. I would recommend that you change that too.
I just realised that you probably expected your GEDCOM file to automatically populate the WikiTree database. It doesn't do that, the GEDCOMPARE utility allows you to compare with profiles that are already in WikiTree and when you have worked through your GEDCOM file then you will see "Add" buttons allowing you to add each new profile individually.
Thank you, for signing the Honor Code. Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree.
Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page.
Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is a great way to start.
