Biography

Ida Adell (Della) was born in 1875 in Denmark, Michigan, the youngest child of Adoniram Judson Rowley and Adeline Ware. [1] In 1880, she lived with her family on the family farm in Denmark, Michigan.[2]

In 1892, Della married Lafayette Moore in Denmark.[3] By 1900, they had 3 sons.

In 1900, Ida's family was separated. Her husband, Lafayette, was living in a boarding house in West Bay City, employed as a city street laborer. Their oldest son, Charles, was living with Della's brother Ernest and his wife Lois. Their younger sons Wayne and Ralph, ages 4 and 2, were living with Della's brother Eugene and his wife Maggie in Fairgrove. Della's whereabouts at that time are unknown. By 1910, the family was reunited, with the addition of twin daughters, Leona and Luella, and living in Bay City.[4]In 1920, Della and her husband and children were living in Oakland.[5]In 1930 and 1940, Della and Lafayette and their youngest son, Kenneth, were living on their farm in Jefferson County, Michigan.[6][7]

Della died in Hillsdale in 1945.[8]She is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Pontiac, Michigan.[9]

Della's obituary, Hillsdale Daily News, March 7, 1945: Mrs. Della Moore, 70, died at her home, 57 Willow Street, Tuesday noon. She had been in ill health for eight weeks and death was due to a heart ailment. Mrs. Moore was born in Tuscola County, Michigan, January 11, 1875, and later made her home in Osseo, and Pontiac. She had been a Hillsdale resident for two years. On August 27, 1892, she was united in marriage to LaFayette Moore who survives her. The survivors besides the husband, LaFayette, is one daughter, Mrs. Lula Cook, Pontiac; two sons, T/5 Kenneth with the army in England, and Wayne L., of Ohio, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the Dutcher Funeral Home, Thursday at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend V. R. Dunckel will officiate. There will also be a service in the Huntoon Funeral home in Pontiac Friday at 3:00 p.m. with the Reverend A.W. Hastings of Flint officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill cemetery in Pontiac.[10]

At her death in Mar 1945, her daughter Lula lived in Pontiac, her son Kenneth was with the army in England and son Wayne L was living in Ohio.
