Biography

Joanna Royce was a daughter of Nehemiah Royce and Hannah (Morgan) Royce, who married in New London, Connecticut, in 1660 and resided in Wallingford, Connecticut.^[1] Jacobus estimated her birth date as 1670, but she may have been born earlier. She married Wouter Jansen (also known as Walter Johnson) of Flatbush, Long Island, New York. She died before 5 July 1689 when Wouter married again and was described as the widower of Johanna Rijs.^[2]
