MARRIAGE NOTICE. THOMSON—RUSSEL.—On August 15, at St. John's Church, Perth, by the Rev. C. E. C. Lefroy, M.A., Alfred, fifth son of the late James Guy Thomson, of Brookhampton, to Elizabeth Viola, eldest daughter of Thomas Clarkson Russel, of Brighton, England.
WEDDING REPORT. A quiet wedding took place on Friday, August 15, at St. John's Church, Melbourne-road, West Perth, between Alfred, fifth son of the late James Guy Thomson of Brookhampton, and Elizabeth Viola Russel, eldest daughter of Thomas Clarkson Russel, solicitor, of Brighton, England. The Rev. C. E. C. Lefroy officiated. The bride, who was given away by Mr H. Yelverton, M.L.A., looked well in her travelling dress-a dark blue, tailor-made cloth coat and skirt, and black chiffon toque, with plumes and knot of turquoise blue velvet. She was attended by Miss Kathleen Irvine, her only bridesmaid. Mr. C. Russel, cousin of the bride, was best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the house of Mrs. Russel, the sister-in-law of the bride, and later in the day the bridal pair left by train for Weslington, their future home, near Greenbushes. The wedding presents were handsome and numerous.

Mrs. Hugh Russel, of View-street, Cottesloe, has received the sad sews that her husband, Lieutenant Hugh Russel died of wounds in France on January 21. Lieut. Russel left Australia for England on June 1, 1916, and had been serving in France since September of the same year. He was mentioned in despatches three times and gained the Military Cross recently. He was the son of the late T. Clarkson Russel, solicitor, of London, and came out from England 24 years ago and was surveying for the Government for over 20 years.
