Biography

My name is Julie Marilyn Ryde and I was born in Hawera, Taranaki NZ in October 1961. I have been doing genealogy since 1987 and in 2012 joined the Guild of One Name Studies for my surname RIDE or RYDE also including names WRIDE, WRYDE, ATTRIDE, and ATTRYDE. I have some trees on Ancestry and have been creating a database with these surnames, all still in progress. I welcome anyone having interest in these names. Thanks

How's everything going?

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

I see you have been DNA tested, to get the best results from the test post your results to GEDMatch.com. And use Wilitree to share your ancestor tree. There are many tools here to help you use that test data to confirm your ancestors. Add the DNA Tag to join the conversation.

Hi Julie,

Welcome to the WikiTree family!

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, which means that all members work together as a single collaborative team. The Honor Code helps keep everything functioning smoothly as we work on one BIG tree.

The initial email from us has links you can use to get started. When you confirm your email address, you'll have an option to volunteer to add information to WikiTree, beginning with tags for your own profile. Tags are surnames, locations, concepts, etc. that you'd like to track.

If you decide to volunteer, a greeter will confirm your membership, and you'll be able to add new profiles to the tree.

Carole

P.S. I'm always happy to answer questions.
