Biography

Annie Eliza Sarah Saddler was born in 1872 at Melbourne, Colony of Victoria (Australia). She was a daughter of Valentine John Saddler and Eliza King.^[1]

On 21st April 1897, she married Doctor Eugen Hirschfeld at Holy Trinity Church, Kew, Melbourne, Victoria.^[2] They had four sons and two daughters:

1. Doctor Otto Saddler Hirschfeld (1898-1957)
2. Kathleen Elisabeth Saddler Hirschfeld (1899-1972), from 1961 styled as Baroness Bagot
3. Rudolf Saddler Hirschfeld (1902-77)
4. Doctor Franz Konrad Saddler Hirschfeld (1904-87)
5. Paul Heinrich Hirschfeld (1906-14)
6. Elsie Hirschfeld (-1910)

Her grand-daughter, Roisin Goss (daughter of Konrad and wife of Queensland Premier Wayne Goss), researched Eugen Hirschfeld's life as a PhD thesis at the University of Queensland.^[3]

Annie passed away on 3rd December 1944 at Brisbane.^[4] She was survived by her husband, three sons and a daughter.
