The son of Benjamin Sage and Abigail Blinn, John was born in Connecticut in 1769. He married Hannah around 1792; their children included:

The family made their home in Middletown, Middlesex, Connecticut [1][2] and then moved west, to Monroe County, New York. Once in Wheatland, New York, [3][4] some of his sons farmed on adjoining property.[5] John passed away in 1842 and is buried at Wheatland Baptist Cemetery in Wheatland, New York.[6]
