Ammi and Stephen were farmers.
On 30 Dec 1854 Stephen H Salsbury purchased 30 acres
from the estate of Aaron Thompson.[2]
In 1855 he was living in E.D. Eastern, Yates, Orleans, New York.[3] The household included Amma Whitmarsh 77, wife Sarah Whitmarsh 73, child S H Salsbury 40, child Sophronia Salsbury 33, grandson S M Salsbury 11, grandson N W Salsbury 9, grandson N W Salsbury 7, grandson A A Salsbury 5 and granddaughter J M Salsbury 3. Amma and Stephen were farmers.
In 1860 he was living in Town of Yates, Orleans, New York.[4] The household included Hazelton Salisbury 45, Sophrona Salisbury 38, Newton Salisbury 15, Nelson Salisbury 13, Allison Salisbury 11, and Josephene Salisbury 9. Stephen was a farmer.
On 27 Jul 1863 Jonathan W Salsbury and Sarah A his wife of the town of Yates sold 13 acres in lot 3 in the town of Yates to Stephen H Salsbury for $400. The land was clear of encumbrances with the exception of a mortgage given to Stephen Salsbury for securing the support of James Salsbury.[5] Stephen and Jonathan were brothers; James was their uncle.
On 27 Apr 1864 Stephen H Salsbury purchased 100 acres in lot 3 in the town of Yates, Orleans County, New York from Ammi Whitmarsh for $5000.[6]
On 3 Jun 1864 Stephen H Salisbury and Sophronia his wife sold 13 acres in lot 3 in the town of Yates to Sarah A Salisbury for $400.[7]
In 1866 Stephen was in a tax record in Michigan, United States.[8]
In 1870 he was living in Ypsilanti, Washtenaw, Michigan.[9] The household included Stephen Saulsbury 55, Sophronia Saulsbury 48, Samuel Saulsbury 27, Alvin Saulsbury 20, Josephine Saulsbury 18, Alfred Smith 30, and Kate Vedor 33. Stephen was a farmer. Samuel and Alfred were farm laborers.
He died 2 Mar 1872 in Ypsilanti, Washtenaw County, Michigan[10]
and is buried in Union-Udell Cemetery, Ypsilanti, Washtenaw County, Michigan.[11]
