Richard was born in 1923 in Oklahoma. His parents were Lewis Morris Schaffer (1896-1933) and Daisy (Overstreet) Phillips (1900-).[1] his father died in 1933 and his mother remarried to Paul Phillips, who he was living with hin 1940. [2] He enlisted in the Army on Oct 28 1942. [3]On Christmas Eve, 1943, he married Thelma Lucille (Tipton) Schaffer (1925-2007) [4]He was discharged from the Army on Sep 8 1944. [3] He had 2 children, Beverley Schaffer and Jeannine Schaffer. In 1950, he was living in Midland Indiana with his wife Thelma and daughter, Beverly. [5]He passed away in 2007. [6]
He was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid Oklahoma. [7]
