Biography

Lewis was born in 1896 in Illinois. He was the son of Rudolph and Mary Shaffer. In 1900, he was recorded in Bureau, Illinois with his parents and sibling, Elsie, Harry and Arthur.

By 1910, the family had moved to Grant, Oklahoma. This time his father's wife was recorded as Clara.

In 1917, Lewis registered for the draft for WWI. He was a single farm laborer.

He served in the United States Military in 1919.

In 1921, he married Daisy Overstreet on April 16 in Canadian, Oklahoma.

In 1930, he was living in Enid, Oklahoma with his wife, Daisy and 2 sons, Richard Theodore Schaffer (1923-2007) and Howard Schaffer (-1928). He was working as a carpenter.

He passed away in 1933 in Enid, Oklahoma and is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, Oklahoma.
