Maria Felicia Scherma is born around 1823-29 in Corleone, based on her age at the birth of her son in 1851, and at her death in 1869. She is a daughter of Domenico Scherma and Santa Cocchiara.
Maria Felicia marries Leoluca Quaglino, a farmer on 28 April 1845. Her parents have died by this time.[1]
Maria Felicia and Leoluca have at least ten children, including twins in 1850: Filippo (1846), Anna Maria (1848), two sons named Domenico (1850 and 1851), two sons named Angelo (1850 and 1858), Santa (1853), Giovanni (1856), Maria Santa (1861), and Calogero Maria (1864).
Filippo is born and baptized 30 June 1846. His godparents are Giovanni Grizzaffi and his paternal aunt Biagia Quaglino, a married couple. (Ten days earlier, Giovanni and Biagia have a son, Nicolo', and Leoluca and Maria Felicia stand as godparents.)
Anna Maria is born and baptized on 13 April 1848. Her godparents are Leoluca Virgadamo and Maria Concetta, brother and sister.
Twins Angelo and Domenico are born and baptized on 16 July 1850. Angelo's godparents are Francesco and Rosa Marino, brother and sister. Domenico's godparents are his maternal uncle Gregorio Scherma and Lucia Campisi, a married couple.
Angelo dies the day they are born, and Domenico dies the next day. Another son named Domenico is born the following year, and another son named Angelo is born in 1858.
The second son named Domenico is born 23 September 1851, in his parents' home on via S. Elena, in Corleone, and baptized the same day. His godparents are his mother's half-brother Antonino Castro and his wife, Rosalia Marino.
Santa is born and baptized Sanctam on 29 October 1853. Her godparents are Mariano Patella and Gaetana, his sister.
On Christmas Day, 1854, Leoluca and Maria Felicia stand as godparents to Salvatore, son of Calogero Cutrera and Maria Quaglino.
Giovanni is born and baptized Joannem on 7 January 1856. His godparents are his paternal uncle and aunt, Angelus Quaglino and Margharita, his unmarried sister.
Santa dies on 3 October 1856 at three years of age.
The second son named Angelo is born 20 November 1858 and baptized Angelum the next day. His godparents are Antonius Navarra and Innocentia Cutrera, a married couple.
Angelo dies on 18 August 1860 at a year and nine months of age.
Maria Santa is born and baptized Mariam Sanctam on 1 November 1861. Her godparents are Joanne Rizzo and Maria Anna Liggio, a married couple.
Anna Maria, called "Maria" in this record, dies at age sixteen (b. 1848) on 10 August 1864. She is unmarried.
Calogero Maria is born 29 August 1864 and baptized the next day. His godparents are Philippus Quaglino (possibly his grandfather) and Francisca Cascio, the wife of Leoluca Virgadamo.
Maria Felicia dies on 7 March 1869 in her home on via San Giovan Battista, in Corleone. According to the civil death record, she is 40 years old, for an estimated birth year of 1829. According to the Church record, she is 46, for a birth year of 1823.
Leoluca remarries later that same year to Biagia Vernagallo. He dies the following year, on 10 April 1874.
Filippo marries later that year, to Giovanna Nicastro, on 22 November 1874.
The surviving son named Domenico marries the following year to Maria Biagia Piranio on April 10, 1875.
Maria Santa marries Francesco Maria Frisella Vella on 7 February 1881.
Calogero marries Vita Moscato on 18 November 1893 in Manhattan.[2]
Maria Santa dies at age 34 (b. 1 Nov 1861) on 24 March 1896. Her husband survives her.
