Biography

Soldier Jacob Schoonmaker served with Ulster County New York Militia during the American Revolution.

Jacob is mentioned in his grandfather's will of 1775 as the son of his eldest son Jochem Schoonmaker, deceased ^[1].

The marriage of Jacob to Jacomeyntie van Wagene was registered 1766 January 19th at the Reformed Dutch Church of New Paltz ^[2].

Rochester (Ulster) baptism record Feb. 12 1789 for Benjamin lists parents as Jacob D.V. Schoonmaker and Maria Hoornbeek. No witnesses.

Rochester (Ulster) baptism record May 4 1777 for Jacob Hoornbeek born Apr. 19 lists parents as Jacobus Dewitt Schoonmaker and Maria Hoornbeek. Witnesses were Jacob D. Hoornbeek and Janneke [maternal aunt?]. See Jacob.

With Maria Hornbeck, Jacob witnessed the baptisms of Janneke Hoornbeek. ^[3], and his grandaughter, Maria Vanwagene.^[4]
