CALEB LONGEST SCOTT s/o Andrew & Anna Longest Scott b. 22 Dec 1821 Richland, Sangamon co. Ill. d. 9:15 A.M., 29 Feb 1892 Larned, Pawnee county Kansas

They lived near Berlin, Sangamon co. Ill. until 1876, when they moved to Wayne co. Iowa. In 1878 they moved to Kansas, settling first in Marena Township in Hodgeman county, and then in 1882 in Little River, Rice co. Kansas.

Caleb and Charlotte met and were engaged about 1849; she was a "school mistress". Caleb had entered Jacksonville college in Jacksonville, Illinois, but before graduating left for California in 1850 looking for gold. He spent ten years in California before returning to Illinois and marrying Charlotte.
