Mary Selden (Selding in birth record) was born 5 March 1688/9 in Hadley, Hampshire County, Province of Massachusetts Bay, to parents Joseph Selden Rebecca Church.[1]
In the summer of 1696 Mary removed with her father and family to a new home on the Connecticut River called then "Twelve Mile Island Farme" and afterwards the "Selden Homestead", near East Haddam and Lyme. Connecticut Colony.[2]
Mary and Isaac Spencer (later Deacon) were married 2 October 1707 in East Haddam, Hartford County, Connecticut Colony.[3] That this Mary is the daughter of Joseph Selden is shown by this reference in the 2 February 1724/5 Settlement Agreement in the Estate of Joseph Selden, Deceased: "...Isaac Spencer and Mary Spencer, his wife...Son...in Law to...Mr. Joseph Selden Deceas'd by affinity with his...daughter...Mary..."[4]
She passed away in 1732.
