I believe that the Joseph Severance who died in 1665 in Charlestown, MA is not Joseph Severans, son of John Severans of Salisbury, MA.

I believe that Joseph Severans moved to Cape Cod and married Martha Worden. There are records in the Essex County Court records that show that Joseph Severans was in minor trouble in Salibury, MA in 1673 and his father had to pay fines for his misbehavior. He apparently left home and joined the Army against the Indians in 1675 in Yarmouth, MA on Cape Cod. He disappears from the court records in Essex County, MA and begins to show up in the records on Cape Cod where he married before 1676 in Yarmouth, MA. He later settled in Harwich, MA. On 18 Nov. 1682 Joseph Severans of Yarmouth MA planter, for the sum of 10 pounds sold "one half part of my great division lott of upland in Salisbury" to Henry True of Salisbury, witnesses Tho. Bradbury & Rebecka Connor and acknowledged by Joseph Severans 18 Nov. 1682.83 This may have been land that he had inherited from his father, John Severans, who had died in April of 1682.

Severence-19 and Seaverns-24 appear to represent the same person because: There are 3 Josephs ... Seaverns-24, Severence-19 and Severence-29 all born within days and all linked to the same parents.
