Biography
Frederick was born in 1789. He passed away in 1885.
During the War of 1812, Frederick Shell served as a private in the 1st York Militia.
From Sept. 22 to 24, 1813, he was at York in Captain Reuben Richardson’s Detachment. [1]
From Sept. 25 to Oct. 15, 1813, he was at York in Capt. Richardson’s Company. [2]
From Mar. 30 to Apr. 24, 1814, he served on public service at York in Capt. Jeremiah Travis’ Co. The public service may have been road work.[3]
From Sept. 28 to Oct. 16, 1814, he served with Capt. James Mustard.[4]
At the time of the 1871 Census of Canada, Frederick and his wife Elizabeth were farming in Uxbridge, Ontario. Their three youngest children, Matilda, Michael, and Wallace are living at home.
In 1881 Census of Canada, Frederick may have been living with Abraham Badgerow and his wife Harriet in the village of Uxbridge, Ontario.
