Biography

Thomas Ryland Shelor was born 24 Feb 1806, ^[1] the son of Jacob Shelor and Elizabeth Ryland.^[2]Thomas married Susan A. Stribling, daughter of Jesse Stribling and Elizabeth (Sloan) Stribling^[3] say 1836, based on the birth of their first child. Thomas and Susan had eight children: Sarah E. Stribling, Mary S. Harbin, Virginia C. Wright, N. Rebecca Steele, Robert Jesse Shelor, Joseph W. Shelor, William C. Shelor and Susan Shelor.^[4]Thomas died 30 Dec 1878 in Calhoun, Georgia, and is buried there in Fain Cemetery along with his wife and four of his children. A notice of his death was published in the Anderson Intelligencer, 16 Jan 1879. ^[5]
