Martha Jane Sherrin was born in 1848 in Somerset, England, United Kingdom, daughter of John Sherrin (1815–1909) and Elizabeth Richards (1818–1898).
Martha (15) married William Banks Jeffcoat (19) (born on October 16, 1844; son of Samuel Jeffcoat and Mary (Banks) Jeffcoat) on May 24, 1864 in Queensland. Their children were:
