Biography

A straight shooter. George Henry embodies the Shine traits, good and bad. Bullheaded and stubborn. He didn't suffer fools. He had great political potential if he could have been diplomatic in his approach. His brashness created a number of enemies.

Alderman of the 5th district, New Britain Connecticut. Brought clean, municipal "artificial ice" to the city after old pond harvested ice stored for use in hot months was prone to contamination. The process not only cooled the iceboxes of New Britain, it cooled his passion for politics and the games that went with it. Once the ice project came to fruition, he announced he would not run for re-election.

He was also a long time employee of New Britain's North and Judd making "Anchor Brand" products found in a number of industries. Most famous for making spurs. When the owner of North and Judd passed away, George and his brother Frank were pallbearers at the funeral.

Passed while spending the night in friend Karl Beckert's home.
